Abrahamic Reunion Community Service Silicon Valley 2018 II
SILICON VALLEY, California — On Sunday, November 4, 2018, more than fifty Jews, Christians, and Muslims united to prepare and serve a hot meal to the poor of San Jose. Volunteers enjoyed an Abrahamic Family Reunion as they collaborated in compassion, led by Pastor Bernard Bell of Peninsula Bible Church Cupertino, Brs. Khaled Neouchy, Munir Ahmed, and Muneem Shaik of Evergreen Islamic Center, and Rabbi Dana Magat of Temple Emanu-El. Volunteers got acquainted in small buddy groups before Br. Khaled led Muslim volunteers in afternoon prayers. After all food was prepared and served, volunteers enjoyed a much-deserved break and continued conversation over dinner together.
Many thanks both to the great leadership of and amazing volunteers from Temple Emanu-El, Evergreen Islamic Center, and Peninsula Bible Church. Thanks also to Gisela Bushey, Executive Director of Loaves and Fishes, and to Br. John Estrada of St. Vincent de Paul for all their planning and preparations. Special thanks also to Father Bob and Most Holy Trinity Church for hosting the meal, and to all AAi donors who made this event possible. Most of all, thanks be to God الحَمْد لله ברוך השם for providing the strength and resources for this united effort to serve our neighbors in need.
