AAi Hygiene Kit Assembly | Aug. 8, 2021
LOS GATOS, California — On Sunday, August 8, 2021, more than thirty Jews, Christians and Muslims united to assemble and deliver more than 1,000 hygiene kits for the unhoused of San Jose and Palo Alto. Volunteer orientation was led by Sr. Bonita Krasnopoler of Congregation Shir Hadash, Br. Jay Nuez of West Valley Muslim Association, and Sr. Julie Priest of River Church Community. Jewish, Christian and Muslim volunteers formed small buddy groups to get better acquainted before collaborating in compassion at Congregation Shir Hadash. Hygiene Kits consisted of a bar of soap, facemask, toothbrush, toothpaste, razor, shaving cream, and shampoo, all stuffed in a new pair of socks. All kits were assembled in less than three hours, then a few volunteers delivered the kits to Cityteam’s soup kitchen in San Jose, and LifeMoves Opportunity Center in Palo Alto. Many thanks to Congregation Shir Hadash for hosting, and to all who donated generously so that AAi could purchase the supplies.
