Abrahamic Reunion Community Service Morgan Hill 2013
Morgan Hill, California — On Sunday, August 18, 2013, more than forty Jews, Christians and Muslims united at Congregation Emeth in Morgan Hill to prepare 180 kosher and halal meals for service to the hungry and homeless of Gilroy at St. Joseph's Family Center. Volunteer orientation was led by Mr. Michael Heil and Susan Meyers of Congregation Emeth, Mr. Aziz Baameur of South Valley Islamic Center, and Pastor Larry Albright of Lincoln Glen Church. Jewish, Christian and Muslim volunteers teamed up in buddy groups to get acquainted, then collaborate to make a tasty meal of lasagna, green beans, green salad, watermelon, and fresh-squeezed lemonade. After meal service, volunteers dined together. Mr. Charles Veach of South Valley Islamic Center offered a closing prayer with thanks to God for our service together. Volunteers made clear that peaceful coexistence between Jews, Christians and Muslims is not a distant and naive dream but a growing and present reality as volunteers unite to serve the common good for the glory of God.
