Common Word Community Service Gilroy 2015 II
GILROY, California — On Sunday, October 11, 2015, thirty-three Christians and Muslims united to serve 120 meals to the homeless and hungry at St. Joseph’s Family Center. Yasmine Daneshvar of South Valley Islamic Community and Jane Uhl of Lincoln Glen Church led orientation and united volunteers into buddy groups to get acquainted before preparing the meal together. Mohammed Zayd Hussain grilled his grandfather's world famous chicken with Chuck Hageman. Pastor Larry Albright led all in a prayer of thanksgiving before the meal. After all guests had eaten, volunteers dined together and enjoyed further conversation. Judy Hamed offered a closing prayer thanking God for the wonderful privilege of serving our neighbors together and for building new friendships between Muslims and Christians in the process الحمد لله
